New Dorema 2018 Awning Range Review

With the 2018 camping season charging over the horizon, we take a closer look at the full caravan awning range available from Dorema.

Dorema, one of the best European manufacturers of top quality caravan awnings, have once again updated their extensive awning range for 2018. Caravanner's have different needs when it comes to deciding which awning is best for them. To some it's flexibility, to others an all weather product is essential. Dorema have an extensive range to accommodate almost every requirement, but know which is right for you is a personal choice.

Lets make this easier and break the range down into easier to digest sections. The Dorema range can be categorised into three overall sections; General Use Awnings, Flexible Use Awnings and Deluxe Awnings. It's important to remember that all these awnings are manufactured from the highest quality Ten Cate Coated Polyester heavy duty fabric, with additional coatings on some models and extra features on others making them more suitable for permanent sites, seasonal sites and general touring use. For example, an awning designed for permanent site use will inevitably be stronger and heavier than a touring awning. The frame and construction of a permanent site awning has to be considered to maximise the awnings strength, weather resistance and UV stability since this type of awning is pitched and left erected for the entire season, special attention needs to be focused on the longevity of each component to ensure it can withstand the elements.

General use awnings obviously need to be heavy duty but it is vital that they are also easy to erect, lighter to transport and flexible enough for the average two to three week camping holiday. Generally they are erected for your holiday and packed away when you're ready to go home with the minimum of fuss. The materials used in manufacturer have to withstand the rigours of multiple holidays as pitching and packing away can take it's toll on cheaper awning materials. With a focus on simplicity the Dorema range now comes complete with easy grip frames and safe lock pads - these allow the awning to be connected to your caravan without the need to drill, screw or otherwise deface your vehicle. The pads connect to a special beading within the awning and then to the end of the roof support poles. The pads with a large non slip surface, are then pressed against your vehicle holding the roof safely and securely in place with no slipping or sliding around.

Dorema Daytona.

The Daytona is by far our best selling general use full caravan awning. Made from the best quality touring materials the Daytona offers superb value with outstanding features supplied as standard. Dorema Garda 240.

If your requirements demand a seasonal site awning, the Dorema Garda 240 is a great example of an awning which is both strong, flexible and practical for touring and seasonal users. Extra heavy duty materials make the Dorema Garda 240 extremely strong, very easy to clean, colourfast in UV light and extremely waterproof. Aimed at the enthusiastic campers who, for example, takes more than one holiday a year or tours for a large part of the season, the features packed into this product are thoughtful and flexible. The awning has several special features which include being able to add an optional standard or tall annexe and reattach the side panel with a clever double zip system, covered zips in matching materials for additional weather protection and fly screen mesh panels on both sides.

Dorema Garda XL270.

The bigger brother to the Garda 240, the Dorema Garda XL270 as the name suggests is 270cm deep offering a larger awning footprint. Whilst both models have the same features the extra depth makes the XL270 awning look and feel a lot bigger than it is; whilst still keeping the ease of pitch of it's smaller sibling. The extra floor space inside makes a surprising difference when you consider its only 30cm deeper. Dorema Multi Nova & Dorema Multi Nova Excellent.

These amazing new Dorema Multi Nova awnings are a very clever combination full awning and fitted sun canopy all in one. Available in two great colours, either Blue/Grey or Charcoal/Grey, the Multi Nova comes as standard with a lightweight Aluminium frame making it perfect for touring and general use camping. The Octavia from Dorema is certainly a real head turner. Designed and produced with the highest quality seasonal materials the Dorema Octavia has a high tech look to complement the design of today's latest caravans. Futuristic styling is what makes this awning very different but the features packed in to this package makes it extremely easy to set up, flexible in it's use and desirable to own. Dorema President XL280 De Luxe.

Designed with extreme campers in mind the new Dorema President XL280 De Luxe is a serious piece of kit. Whether you require a top quality touring awning or a perfect seasonally sited awning, the new President is actually perfect for both. The Ten Cate material is equipped with extra coatings to help reduce dirt adhesion to enhance the awnings longevity. Full external privacy blinds are fitted to enhance the President's security whilst not occupied or for total internal privacy. This also protects your awning furniture and interior for the effects of UV sunlight fading. A super tough 28mm EasyGrip frame is supplied as standard with either a lightweight fibreglass or aluminium alternative available but we don't recommend these for seasonal site use where strength and durability is paramount.

The unique feature of the Dorema Royal is the movable front panels. Both front panels can be inserted either at the front of the awning giving maximum internal floor space(350cm) or recessed back 110cm giving a large front canopy and still maintaining a good 240cm internal awning footprint.
